POINTE BLANCHE–A shipment containing a large quantity of drugs was found inside a shipment from Jamaica. Two containers were searched, which had come in on a boat which was previously found to have carried drugs from Jamaica.

Police officers were seen loading boxes onto the backs of two police pick-up trucks. It is not known what type of drugs was found.

According to a source, the shipment was most likely to contain marijuana as most drugs imported from Jamaica consists of marijuana; however, this has not been confirmed.

Trucks were queued up outside Port of St. Maarten, but were refused entry because the police and customs were busy conducting an investigation. The police could not be reached for comment. It is understood that officers were still busy with the investigation at press time.
