Last Wednesday Frans Richardson USP, Maurice Lake UPP and Silvio Matser UPP defected to the NA/DP coalition, forming the majority government, and shifting power from a Theo Heyliger (UP) led government to a William Marlin (NA) led government.
On Thursday, the Council of Ministers headed by Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs called in Article 59 dissolving Parliament and calling for new elections.
Sarah Wescot Williams Parliamentarian (DP) who was a part of the Government fall protested that it was unconstitutional for Ministers who had been fired by Parliament, to turn around and fire the Parliametarians who had fired them.
The impasse continued for days
Now it has been announced via the radio.
